Please be informed that Malaysia Airlines Berhad will be implementing Service Charge for the carriage of 'Risk' items, as in this case "Firearms" to be carried on board of M flights with effective from Monday / 03rd October 2016.
The carriage of weapons, explosives or any other high risk items in the cabin of Malaysia Airlines' aircraft is strictly prohibited in accordance with Regulation 130-135 of Malaysian Civil Aviation Regulations (MCAR) 2016, Part XII -Regulations under the subject of "Carriage of munitions of war and dangerous goods" and the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) Malaysia. Such consignments shall be secured and placed in the aircraft's hold or other areas inaccessible to the passengers.
Key pertinent points with regards to the above implementation are as below:-
a) A service charge of RM200 per risk item handling (excluding GST) will be imposed. The applicable 6% GST is required to be collected at payment.
b) Applicable on Malaysia Airlines operated flight only for passengers departing from an airport in Malaysia for travel to any domestic or international flight destinations.
c) Malaysian government officials or Malaysian Member of Parliaments travelling on official duty travel are exempted with the proof of specific documents i.e. GOM ID/MP ID/official letter and form of payment i.e GTR/ATR to confirm on their status.
d) NO service charge shall be collected for the following categories of GOM passengers:
1) Official escort to DYMM Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong, DYMM Sultan's and his consort;
2) Members of Malaysian Parliament which includes Minister, Deputy Minister, Parliament Secretary of Political Secretary;
3) Malaysian state assemblymen / Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri;
4) Malaysian Government officers; and
5) Official escort to the aforesaid individuals .
