New Things To Do This School Holidays At Ocean Park Hong Kong’s Summer Carnimal

Ocean Park Hong Kong is hosting Summer Carnimal, its biggest ever summer event featuring a host of exhilarating and one-of-a-kind activities from now until 2 September 2018! More than HK$37 million (approx. RM19 million) has been invested in this year’s Summer Carnimal to elevate visitors’ experience at the award-winning park. From day to night, the summer-themed festivities will take over the Park, with more than a hundred performers from across the globe in vibrant costumes staging animal-themed grand parades, and authentic Caribbean and Brazilian cultural performances.

With the upcoming school holidays in August, bring your family down to Hong Kong and enjoy a spectacular summer at Ocean Park, which is just a four-hour flight away! Here are our top picks for a fun family time.

Caribbean Summer Parades

Every afternoon, international performers will dress up in colourful, creative and exuberant costumes that exemplify three main themes: marine life, wildlife and birds. Together with stilt walkers and energetic musicians grooving along to wild beats and rhythms, the international performers will dazzle guests in three high-energy Caribbean Summer Parades. Head on down to Aqua City to interact with the performers and experience the Park’s unique carnival atmosphere. The parade continues at night with performers putting on spectacularly lit costumes and showing off wild summer night dance moves to party with guests.

Viva Spectacular

This authentic Caribbean cultural showcase in Applause Pavilion features highly skilled music, dance and stunt performances by well-known performers including Ebon Grayman who has been with Cirque Du Soleil for 13 years, and Shemika Campbell, the Queen of Limbo holding three Guinness World Records. Other performances include various hair-raising stunts and astonishing dance shows, in which performers will also invite the audience to join them on stage for some fun. Guests will be able to take photos with the Caribbean crew after the show.

Aqua Kaleidoscope

Ocean Theatre comes alive with an elegant synchronised swimming performance by a national-level synchronised swimming team from Canada. Guests will be amazed by the meticulously choreographed moves and formations performed in harmony with melodic tunes. The elegant water ballet will immerse guests in a spectacular audio-visual experience.

Whiskers Wet & Foam Bash

A popular children’s activity at Ocean Park, Whiskers Wet & Foam Bash is back with colourful fountains and water screen arches, so families can splash away the heat and cool down while enjoying some family fun.

Wild Face Painting

Kids and adults alike can channel their spirit animals with unique, personalised face paint by Ocean Park artists. Guests can also complete the look with animal-themed hats, boppers, tie-dyed animal t-shirts, fashion sandals and lighting lanyards.

Street Acts and Shows

All over the Park, a variety of roving street acts including the powerful Capoeira, drum music, energetic street dances, will enrich the sensational summer experience. Feel the summer vibes with spectacular Summer Capoeira, Drums Dramatique, Cheerleading Dance Fever and Movin’ UP. Guests can also take photos with performers in animal-themed costumes.

After Dark Summer Night

At night, there will be DJ’s Burning Beats at The Waterfront Plaza, playing the best summer songs long into the night. Guests can also feast on summer delicacies and chilled drinks from Lakeside Chill, as well as boost their party looks with glowing bubble wands, animal-themed hats and more summertime-limited merchandise, together with a face painting workshop with colourful patterns and designs.

Instagram Photo Contest to See the Tropical Caribbean Islands

From mid-July onwards, guests can stand a chance to win a Royal Caribbean Cruise and air travel vacation package for two valued at HK$80,000 (approx. RM$41,000) presented by Royal Caribbean Cruises Hong Kong and Ocean Park Hong Kong. To enter the lucky draw, simply capture the wonderful Summer Carnimal moments at Ocean Park Hong Kong and share the photos on Instagram with an accompanying creative caption and specific hashtags. Details of the photo contest will be announced on Ocean Park Hong Kong’s official Instagram account, Facebook fan page and website. Terms and conditions apply.

Free Admission Friday and Saturday Evenings

Guests can enter the Park for free every Friday and Saturday night from 8:30p.m. to 11p.m. to join the DJ party, feast on summer delicacies and chilled drinks at Lakeside Chill, Neptune’s Restaurant, Aqua Bakery, or go shopping at Waterfront Gifts*. (*Animal exhibits, thrill rides and other attractions will be closed in the evening.)
