Confusing isn’t it? Well, apparently from our sources, KLIA2’s official name is still KLIA2 as there will be no plans of changing the signages around the airport. It is only when promoting on AirAsia’s website, newsletters, and social media platforms, they will refer KLIA2 as LCCT KL. Why? It is to “reinforce KL’s position as the leading low-cost gateway to Asia and beyond“.

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes explained LCCT KL is synonymous with low-cost, and would therefore attract more tourists to shop and spend. This also encourages tourists who use AirAsia’s “Fly-Thru” service to choose Kuala Lumpur as their transit destination.
