DAY 1 - Santiago de Chile (Arrival)
Upon arrival at Santiago de Chile airport, you will be met by our representative and escorted to your hotel. Our representative will assist you with check-in procedures and provide you with a detailed itinerary, covering all the services included in your tour and additional information on the organization of your trip in Chile. You will also receive a contact information sheet with all the hotel details as well as our offices contact information and a 24-hour emergency number. Rest of the day is free at own leisure, you might explore this beautiful city. Santiago de Chile, usually shortened to Santiago, is the capital and economic centre of Chile. With its museums, events, theaters, restaurants, bars and other entertainment and cultural opportunities, it is the political and cultural centre of the country. Its central location makes it a convenient base point to further explore the country. DAY 2 - Santiago de Chile- Half Day City Tour
Santiago is a mixture between the old and the modern, characteristic that we invite you to know. The city tour through Santiago will show the immensity of the city, its varied geography and civility. We will guide you through Plaza de Armas, Main square of Santiago, where the cathedral, main post office and city hall are located. You will be told about the origins of our city. Next stop is the civic neighborhood and the surroundings of La Moneda government palace. DAY 4 - Santiago de Chile - Easter Island
Breakfast in hotel, at the set time, you will be transferred to Santiage de Chile airport for flight to Easter Island (Polynesian: Rapa Nui). (domestic air ticket at ADD ON OPTIONAL) Upon arrival Easter Island Mataveri airport, you will be met by local representative and escorted to hotel for check in, free at own leisure for the rest of the day. Easter Island (Polynesian: Rapa Nui) is one of the most isolated islands on Earth. Early settlers called the island "Te Pito O Te Henua" (Navel of The World). Officially a territory of Chile, it lies far off in the Pacific Ocean, roughly halfway to Tahiti. It is most famous for its enigmatic giant stone statues, built centuries ago, which reflect the history of the dramatic rise and fall of the most isolated Polynesian culture. The strikingly enigmatic moai (giant stone statues) ate the most pervasive image of Easter Island (Rapa Nui). Dotted all around the island, these massive carved figures stand on stone platforms, like colossal puppets on a supernatural stage. Anakena Beach, Easter Island's stunning white-sand playground sandwiched between sparkling turquoise sea anc cococunt groves is a special place to see these unique archaelogical sites. Easter Island (Polynesian: Rapa Nui) is relatively small, so it is possible to get around fairly easily, even though public transportation is not available. That of course is except for taxis, which are plentiful and very cheap. DAY 5 - Easter Island - Orongo Volcano Half Day Excursion
Today you will depart from the hotel towards Rano Kao Volcano. This fascinating deep crater holds a lake of fresh water entirely covered with totora (large reed). Located on the top of the crater we will find Orongo, the centre where each year the Tangata Manu or Bird Man ceremony is celebrated. These festivities currently take place during summer. There are more than 100 petroglyphs representing the God Make Make, the Tangata Manu, and the Manutara sea bird, among others. We will also visit to the Ana Kai Tangata Caves, which contain several paintings from previous centuries. We will then depart to the ceremonial platform Ahu Vinapu, well known for its architectural perfection. After the tour finishes we will head back to the hotel. Orongo- 53 houses built with flat stones make up this ceremonial village, that hides rocks with petroglyphs that symbolize fertility: the birdman Tangata Manu and the Make Make, the main divinity for the Rapa Nui culture. To get here, you must go by the Rano Kau volcano crater, it´s shape is outlined above the sea and is simply overwhelming. Enjoy the legends of their strong warriors directly from the islanders’ mouths and discover their magical lands on horseback. Orongo now has World Heritage status as part of the Easter Island National Park (Rapa Nui National Park) Rano Kao Volcano -Discover the largest volcanic crater on Easter Island! The spectacular eruption of Rano Kau, over two and a half million years ago, was one of the three that gave life to this magical island located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. With a diameter of over one kilometer, this amazing crater holds a beautiful freshwater lagoon. DAY 6 - Easter Island - FREE & EASY
Breakfast by hotel, free and easy, own leisure time to explore or round the Easter Island! Alternatively, you may visit the Rapa Nui National Park or tepito or tehenua, declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Rest on its pink, sandy beaches and discover its volcanoes and prairies on your bike, on horseback or by foot. DAY 7 - Easter Island - Calama - San Pedro de Atacama
Breakfast by hotel, at the set time, you will be transferred to Easter Island Mataveri airport for flight departure to Calama which is the nearest airport of San Pedro de Atacama. (domestic air ticket at ADD ON OPTIONAL) Remark: Due to the flight connections it may occur that between Easter Island and Atacama, an extra night will have to be added in Santiago (with additional charges). We suggest this night at the hotel airport. We will suggest the best option once we have the specific flights for the selected travel dates. (subject to confirmation) Upon arrival Calama airport, you will be met by local representative and escorted to hotel in San Pedro de Atacama for check in, the drive duration from Calama airport to San Pedro de Atacama abour 2 hours (110km). Free at own leisure for the rest of the day. San Pedro de Atacama is a town in Northern Chile. It's a very popular destination among Chilean tourists and international visitors alike. Visitors come in large numbers, to use the town as a stepping stone to the amazing landscapes around it. Most attractions are part of the Los Flamencos National Reserve, perhaps Chile's most varied and amazing national park. DAY 8 - San Pedro de Atacama- Valle de la Luna & Valle de la Muerte Half-Day Excursion
Journey 43 kms/ 27 miles on a half day tour (4 hours) from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama through the Salt Mountain Range (Cordillera de la Sal) very rich in minerals. Departure time about late afternoon 1500-1700pm local time (assemble time to be change season by season). The Moon Valley is well known for its amazing geological stone formations of extraordinary beauty. Located in the Cordillera de la Sal, it represents an extraordinary attraction because of its resemblance to the moon´s surface and its enormous natural coliseum. We will first arrive at Valle de la Muerte (Death Valley), a mountainous and sandy site with a particular geographical beauty. Its salt formations look like sculptures and works of art. We will then continue on to Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), a small depression of saline ground, containing a number of small, sharp-crested hills where once there used to be a lake. This unique place is famous for its natural mineral sculptures, one of them is Las Tres Marías formed by wind erosion. It truly resembles a lunar setting. There are also caves and mineral deposits of a stone very similar to quartz. We will end the tour by admiring the sunset from La Gran Duna (The Great Dune) with its majestic display of colors.
