Get out of the city and explore another nature site of Azerbaijan. Depart from your Baku hotel in a car with a driver and make your way towards Gabala (approximately 3 hours 45 minutes drive). Gabala was the ancient capital of Caucasian Albania. Archeological evidence indicates that the city functioned as the capital of Caucasian Albania as early as 4th century BC. The Ruins of the ancient town are situated 15 km from the regional center, allocated on the territory between Garachay and Jourluchay rivers.

Ride in a historic Lada car to the 'Yeddi gözəl' (Seven Beauties) waterfall. This mountainous waterfall flowing from the highest peaks of the Caucasus Mountains and locates in Vandam village of Gabala. The name of the Seven Beauties (Yeddi Gozal) Waterfall originates from the name of the 7 mountain roads that should pass to reach the waterfall. As the waterfall is completely frozen in the winter, it gets harder to get here. But in spring and summer, tea houses are available on every mountain road, where the guests are offered a tea set with traditional types of Gabala jam. At the highest point of the waterfall there is a tea house with a special wooden mattress where you can drink tea with the pleasant sound and scenery of the waterfall in the background. The water of the tea is taken from the waterfall and gives a unique taste to it.

Head to Lake Nohur and take a boat trip, eye-catching Lake Nohur with the magnificent view to Caucasus Mountains, fresh air and water is one of the most picturesque places of Gabala. You will be amazed by the beauty of Lake Nohur. The quiet atmosphere and bird sounds create an ideal relaxation environment to escape from the noise of the city. Although swimming in the lake is prohibited (the lake is also used as a reservoir and provides drinking water for Gabala and surrounding regions), it is a perfect place for fishing.

DAY 6 - Baku - Gobustan Mud Volcano Tour

Gobustan geographical region is situated in the west-south of Baku. The meaning of the word «Gobustan» is derived from two words «gobu» – «ravine» and «stan»- «place», i.e. ravine area. The word «gobu» is also of Turkic origin and means «a dried up river valley».

The tour will start off from Gobustan Museum where you will see ancient human bones, work tools used in back to thousand years ago. Then, you will advance to the mountain in order to see real rock paintings in the open air museum. Most people don’t travel to Gobustan for the mud volcanoes – they come for the petroglyphs. Petroglyphs are symbolic and figurative ‘drawings’ made by early humans by chiselling shapes into the patina of exposed rock. Petroglyphic ‘art’ (crude as it may be) is evidence of the development of symbolic thinking, making it one of the most important artifacts of early human history. Gobustan’s petroglyphs date back up to 40,000 years to the Upper Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods. More than 6,000 individual carvings were discovered here in the 1930s and have been protected through the Gobustan National Park (Gobustan Milli Parkı) ever since.

Later on the tour will continue to the Mud Volcano which is not far from Gobustan National Museum.

Azerbaijan keeps the first place in the world for the number of mud volcanoes. About 300 mud volcanoes are to be found in Azerbaijan – at the shore, in the sea and on islands. During this trip you will get a great chance to see these amazing active volcanoes from very close distance. Mud volcanoes are not really volcanoes at all, but take their name from their resemblance to the molten-lava kind. Mud volcanoes come in all shapes and sizes and many are very small. Because they have no lava and rarely erupt, it’s safe to get up close.

Lunch & dinner will be suggest by local guide at your preference and expense.
