Upon arrival Urumqi International Airport, local representative will pick up and transfer to hotel check in. 

Urumqi (also called Dihua in history) is the capital city of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. According to the Guinness Book of Records, Urumqi has earned a place as the most remote city from any sea in the world. 

Travel Tips:

• The weather of Xinjiang/ Silk Road differs in provinces, temperature difference between day and night gets bigger from southeast to northeast. Night time in summer, take along enough warm clothes even if you plan to visit in summer; Day time in summer, T-shirt and short are more suitable. Also, pay attention to weather changes before visit, especially, the weather forecast for sandstorms.
• Due to the long distance between city to city, it recommended bring along with some snacks with you on the road.
• Due to the limited speed of highways and security check points on the roads, the distance and time between the cities listed in the itinerary are for reference only. Breakfast serve at hotel, visit to Tian Shan Mountains, Heavenly Lake (include shuttle bus & boat trip). Tian Shan Mountains, also called Tien Shan, Celestial Mountains or Heavenly Mountains, is a large system of mountain range situated in the Eurasia hinterland. And what makes the Tian Shan Mountains more remarkable is that a high mountain lake - the Heavenly Lake (Altitude: 1,900 m above sea level). The melt water in the lake is crystal clear and quiet like a mirror, which is very beautiful with reflection of the snow peaks and jade green spruces. (Boat trip are not available during November - April due to the water on the surface of a lake is frozen)

This afternoon, drive about 3 hours journey to Turpan. Turpan is a marvelous city blending Western and Eastern religions and culture together perfectly. Its geographical position is rather important. Lying at the junction of the east and the west of China, it has been a key point on the Silk Road since ancient times, with a great number of historical relics as well as unique landscapes. En-route, pass by Dabancheng Wind Power Station. On both sides of the leading road from Urumqi to the Silk Road City, Dabancheng, Turpan, hundreds of wind turbine generators standing steadily. It is China’s largest wind power station-Dabancheng Wind Power Station.

Breakfast serve at hotel, visit to Kumtag Desert Scenic Area (include shuttle bus). Here the hues of the barren sand desert with its thick yellow sand and those of the gobi type desert with its lunar-like, gravelly surface (the thin layer of soil, as well as the thin layer of sand below this, have been blown completely away, leaving only slate-colored gravel on the surface), contrast with the lusher green area 500 km to the south, where the mighty Yangtze River flows. Birds can be seen flittering about in the skies of Kumtag Desert as the sound of tinkling bells focuses one's attention on approaching camels.  There is beauty and charm in the Kumtag Desert. Next, visit to Tuyugou Mazha Village. Tuyugou Mazha Village is situated at the Grand Canyon of Tuyugou, which is by far the oldest Xinjiang Uygur village. It is also a most mysterious place where varied kinds of world-famous religions coexist. Integrity of old traditional and folk customs of Uygur is completely well preserved there. Hence, you can feel the authentic and exotic culture by yourself. Then, visit to Gaochang Ruins (include shuttle bus). The Gaochang Ancient Town is the biggest well known historical and cultural city in the range of Xinjing and one of the first national key cultural relic protection units. The Gaochang Ancient Town originated from the Tunken Military Castle in the West Han Dynasty and developed into a county level city and the city of the local authority (sometimes as the state in direct jurisdiction of the central authority) from a military beachhead. Then, visit to Flaming Mountain. It is the hottest place in China with the highest temperature around 47.8 °C (118 °F) and surface temperature over 70 °C (158 °F) in summer. It became very popular due to a classical Chinese novel, The Journey to the West by the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) writer, Wu Cheng'en, and its charming hero - the Monkey King. 

Breakfast serve at hotel, visit to Kan'erjing Folk Custom Park (Karez systems). Karez systems are the life source of Turpan. In a sense, without them, there would be no Turpan culture. According to records, the history of the karez in Xinjiang dates back to 103B.C. Currently there are still over 400 systems. Karez are very delicate irrigation systems made up of vertical wells, underground canals, above-ground canals and small reservoirs. Thereafter: 

• (January - June & October - December) Visit to Emin Minaret (Su Gong Ta), is the largest extant old tower in Xinjiang and the only Islamic tower among the hundred famous towers in China.
• (July - September) Visit to Grape Valley. Being one of the valleys on the west side of the Flaming Mountain, it has totally different scenery from the Flaming Mountain. It is burning hot at Flaming Mountain, but pleasantly cool in this green Grape Valley. Enjoy Uygur Culture Show. 

Then, drive around 3 hours journey back to Urumqi, visit to Xinjiang International Bazaar, which is the largest in Urumqi. You'll find a bustling market filled with fruit, clothing, crafts, knives, carpets and almost anything that you can imagine. Tonight, stay at Urumqi Hotel.
