ITINERARY / SCHEDULE
DAY 1 - Lima (Arrival)

Upon arrival at Lima airport, you will be met by local representative and escorted to your hotel. Local representative will brief you around the attractions and facilities that the city has.

Rest of the day is free at own leisure, you might explore this beautiful city.

In the north is the city of Caral, the oldest civilization of America, and to the south is the Archaeological Complex of Pachacamac. Lima's history predates the colonial presence in the country. The establishment of the viceroyalty transformed the city into the main political and administrative center of South America. During this period, significant churches, monasteries, mansions and balconies were built. The arrival of modernity didn’t transform the historic center, which is recognized as a World Heritage Site.

Museums with great works of art, archaeological sites, beaches, the boardwalk, valleys, natural reserves, the nightlife, the thrill of adventure sports, and the exquisite cuisine gives Peru’s capital an authentic personality and makes tourism in Lima a unique experience in the country.

DAY 2 - Lima - City Tour

Wake up to breakfast in the hotel before hitting the streets of Lima’s old town; a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site packed with fascinating historical buildings. Start with the Larco Museum, located in the traditional Pueblo Libre district, which is housed in a beautifully restored viceregal mansion built on a pre-Columbian pyramid. The museum boasts the world’s most complete pre-Hispanic collection of gold and silver objects, as well as pieces of erotic art. Then visit Casa Aliaga, a colonial mansion granted in 1535 by chief conquistador Francisco Pizarro to Jeronimo de Aliaga, one of his captains. This is the only house from that time that to this day has always been owned by the same family. Continue to a scenic tour in the colonial downtown, which originates and spreads out from the Main Square. Here you can appreciate the grandiose architecture of the Spanish Empire and be amazed by Lima´s Cathedral. Erected in the 16th century, this building took more than 80 years to complete. After the tour, you’ll be transferred back to the hotel. (Additonal Optional tour available)

DAY 5 - Colca Valley - Canyon Tour - Puno

After breakfast at the hotel, prepare for a day of high drama with a trip to the breathtaking Condor Cross lookout. Take a deep breath and appreciate the sheer vastness of the Colca Valley, which is one of the world's deepest canyons with a maximum depth of more than 4,160 meters – twice that of the Grand Canyon. The thrill of the experience is enhanced by the natural spectacle of huge condors flying over the canyon. Watch in awe as these graceful birds of prey glide over the canyon, patrolling it with military discipline. Descend to the valley floor to discover some of the rustic towns on the banks of the River Colca such as Chivay, Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma and Yanque, where quaint colonial churches are as much as part of the scenery as the peaks of the Andes. There are also stops at the lookouts of Antahuilque and Choquetico to admire majestic views of the valley. Later on, continue to Puno. The route cuts through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve and takes in the stunning stone forests of Patahuasi. The landscapes and scenery are both dramatic and enchanting; you will pass high plains, volcanoes, unusual rock formations and even lagoons, where you can spot cranes drying their wings above the water. There are several viewpoints, remote cafés that offer visitors coca tea and artisans selling traditional textiles and handicrafts along the route. On arrival in Puno, you will be transferred to your hotel.

DAY 6 - Puno - Lake Titicaca - Puno

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the port of Puno, where a boat will take you to the Floating Islands of Uros. The Uros are an ancient society who populate a series of artificial islands built on the basis of the cattail reeds, which grow in the lake itself. The islands are built by weaving the reeds in places where it grows thicker, forming a natural layer. On top, the inhabitants build their houses, also made of reeds, and cook outdoors in order to prevent possible fires.

After an hour-and-a-half tour, continue your trip to the Island of Taquile. This island is Quechua speaking, unlike the other islands in the lake which are Aymara-speaking. The island was once part of the Inca Empire and vestiges of that culture can still be seen in its structures. Once there, receive a brief explanation of the island and witness a cultural activity. Then it’s time for lunch, followed your return to Puno. (Additonal Optional tour available)

The ride to Cusco is set to have interesting stops on route. The first stop is made in the town of Pucara and the Pucara Lithic Museum. This was the first urban settlement on the highlands, a civilization that populated the area between 100 and 300 B.C. After a brief break at La Raya, the highest pass on our way to Cusco (at 4313 m.a.s.l), the bus stops at Sicuani where lunch is served. We then head on to Racchi, where Wiracocha Temple, an Inca site built in honour of Wiracocha, a powerful Andean God, is located. The rectangular construction shows thatched rooftops 20 meters above the ground, which are thought to be the highest in the Inca Empire. Later, we visit the Church of Andahuaylillas, known as the "Sistine Chapel of the Americas" owing to the high-quality pieces of art it shelters. The church was built during the XVI century on top of Wari remains. Today it houses a beautifully restored Colonial organ. Finally, a short 40 kilometres drive gets us to Cusco at the end of today's journey.

The tour starts with a visit to Santo Domingo Convent, a large Renaissance-baroque complex, which was built over the Inca Coricancha Temple. It was one of the most important temples dedicated to worshipping of the sun, and its foundations are still prominent at the base of the convent. Ancient chronicles say the temple was covered in gold leaf and filled with golden representations of nature. Then, visit the Cathedral, the most imposing monument of the Main Square. Head to the hills above Cusco to visit the remains of the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, whose impressive ramparts offer a stunning panoramic view of Cusco, and the ruins of the temple and amphitheatre of Qenqo, where it is believed the Incas practised agricultural rituals. Admire Qenqo and then finally visit Puka Pukara (‘Red fortress’ in Quechua) an Inca military complex located on a prominent hill. Its dwellings squares, bathrooms, aqueducts, walls, and towers can still be appreciated. Afterwards, return to your hotel.

In Aguas Calientes there is a craft market, restaurants and hotels of different categories for those who prefer to spend the night at the foot of the mountain and climb it early the following morning. Finally, after a short transfer by bus, reach Machu Picchu, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture that served as a sanctuary and retreat for the Inca Pachacuti. Machu Picchu, which means "Old Mountain", and is considered a World Heritage by the UNESCO and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. A guided tour explains the origins behind this awe-inspiring citadel, presenting its most prominent landmarks such as the monumental Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial, and the Burial Grounds. Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and then board the train back to Cusco.

You’ll need them to access the lone bathroom at the entrance to the site. To use the bathroom or grab food, you’ll have to exit the gates, so bring your passport and hang onto your ticket.
