TRIP DESCRIPTION

Sit back and relax as you travel into beautiful Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park. Be amazed by the surrounds and incredible sight of Uluru in the distance on your way to Talinguru Nyakunytjaku – the Uluru sunrise viewing area.

As darkness falls and Uluru is thrown into silhouette, Field of Light illuminates. As far as the eye can see gentle rhythms of colour light up the desert.

Ayers Rock (Arrival)

Arrive Ayers Rock aiport, shuttle transfer to Hotel.

Hotel standard check in time 2pm.

Uluṟu Base & Sunset ( tour code Y17 ) | Depart Daily at 2.30pm (Apr-Oct) and 3.00pm (Nov-Mar) | Returns 30 minutes after sunset. (Barbecue Add On: 2.5 hours after sunset). Times are approximate.

Uluru Base Tour - Your experienced Driver Guide will join you on a coach tour around the base of Uluru and give you details on its geology and incredible history. You’ll be fascinated by the Aboriginal stories that go back many thousands of years.

Kuniya Walk - You’ll then head to the Kuniya Walk where your Driver Guide will lead you to the famous Mutitjulu Waterhole. The waterhole provided a key source of water for the Aboriginal people in the area and had been in use for many thousands of years. You’ll see wonderful Aboriginal rock paintings and come to understand their significance.

Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre - The Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre houses an amazing collection of original ceramics, paintings and punu (woodwork) that provide an insight into the unique and spiritual culture of the Anangu, the traditional custodians of Uluru. You can take home your own unique piece of punu.

Wine & Nibbles - You’ll head off to the Uluru Sunset Viewing Area. En route, you may see some dromedary camels casually strolling through the park. On arrival at the Sunset Viewing Area, you’ll be served sparkling wine and nibbles while you absorb the enormity and beauty of your surroundings. You can just sit and relax or stroll around the area to find your own personal space to watch an amazing Red Centre sunset.

Uluru Sunset - Arguably Australia’s most recognisable and fascinating icon, Uluru (Ayers Rock) stands 348 metres high, however, most of its mass is below ground level. You’ll be overwhelmed by its monolithic size, presence and inherent spirituality. As the sun sets over the western horizon, you’ll be witness to the majestic presence and many shades of colour for which Uluru is most famous.

Talinguṟu Nyakunytjaku & Sunrise over Uluṟu - Simply translated, ‘Talinguru Nyakunytjaku’ means ‘to look from the sand dunes’. The platform offers an incredible view through the dunes and stunning desert landscape as the sun rises over Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Make your way on to the viewing platform to see many kilometres into the distance, providing an ideal photo opportunity. Watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight, while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee.

Historic Overview - Your experienced Driver Guide will give you an historical overview of Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park. The Aboriginal people have lived in the area for 22,000 years, so there’s plenty of history to cover. Arguably Australia’s most recognisable and fascinating icon, Uluru (Ayers Rock) stands 348 metres high, however, most of its mass is below ground level. You’ll be overwhelmed by its incredible size, presence and inherent spirituality.

Panoramic Views from Viewing Point - Just 40 kilometres to the west of iconic Uluru, we’ll take in the sites of Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas. When you stop at a viewing point that boasts the most spectacular views of Kata Tjuta, be sure to have your camera at the ready.

Walpa Gorge Walk - Walpa (meaning windy) Gorge is a lush desert haven for plants and animals. The gentle but rocky track will lead you into a world of rare plant species and lush evergreen shrubs known as Spearwood. Your Driver Guide will lead you on a one hour walk through the gorge, sharing stories of local flora and fauna, and the geology of this amazing formation.

Entered into the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame, Sounds of Silence offers the best of the Red Centre distilled into four magical hours. An unforgettable evening eating beautifully prepared food under the sparkling outback sky. The journey begins on a lone sand dune. A meandering path takes participants to an uninterrupted, 360 degree view of this vast landscape. In front is the fabled Uluru; behind are the domes of Kata Tjuta and possibly the most spectacular sunset you have ever seen. Here enjoy sparkling wine and a selection of delectable canapés. As the sun sets in a blaze of reds and oranges and into the starlit night, feast on a gourmet barbecue buffet of authentic Australian delicacies including barramundi, kangaroo, emu, crocodile, bush salads and classic desserts, complemented by some of Australia's finest wines. Attention then turns to some of the world's best stargazing as the resident astronomer takes diners on an unforgettable tour of the spectacular southern night sky. As dinner winds down, select from a choice of tea, coffee or port. In winter, guests gather around a campfire to savour a special treat of hot mulled wine.

The critically acclaimed Field of Light Uluru by the internationally celebrated artist Bruce Munro has now been extended until 31 December 2020.

The exhibition, aptly named Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku or ‘looking at lots of beautiful lights’ in local Pitjantjatjara is Munro’s largest work to date.Overwhelming in size, covering more than seven football fields, it invites immersion in its fantasy garden of 50,000 spindles of light, the stems breathing and swaying through a sympathetic desert spectrum of ochre, deep violet, blue and gentle white.
