TRIP DESCRIPTION

Sit back and relax as you travel into beautiful Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park. Be amazed by the surrounds and incredible sight of Uluru in the distance on your way to Talinguru Nyakunytjaku – the Uluru sunrise viewing area.

As darkness falls and Uluru is thrown into silhouette, Field of Light illuminates. As far as the eye can see gentle rhythms of colour light up the desert.

Ayers Rock (Arrival)

Arrive Ayers Rock aiport, shuttle transfer to Hotel.

Uluṟu Sacred Sites & Sunset ( tour code Y17 ) | Depart Daily at 2.30pm (Apr-Oct) and 3.00pm (Nov-Mar) | Returns 30 minutes after sunset. (Barbecue Add On: 2.5 hours after sunset). Times are approximate.

Travel in the comfort of your coach around the base of Uluru with your Driver Guide who will provide details on its incredible history. You’ll be fascinated by the Aboriginal stories that go back many thousands of years. Learn the significance of ancient Aboriginal rock art, about the area’s flora and fauna and culture of its traditional owners, the Anangu. Your day concludes with a spectacular sunset at Uluru.

  • Depart the resort mid-afternoon for Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park
  • Join your Driver Guide for a short walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole at the base of Uluru
  • View ancient rock art and hear stories of traditional Anangu life
  • Learn the Tjukurpa (creation) story of Kuniya and Liru
  • Visit the Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre – explore the Tjukurpa tunnel and read about the history, flora and fauna of the park at the Ranger Information Centre
  • Enjoy sparkling wine and nibbles as you view the iconic Uluru sunset – don’t forget to take a photo every few minutes to capture the famous colour change

Relax in the company of friends and fellow travellers and enjoy sparkling wine on arrival then dine on a menu of steak, kangaroo meat, lamb sausages, chicken skewers and garlic prawns, salads and a tasty dessert. All accompanied by a selection of red and white wines, beer and soft drinks. There’s time for stargazing too (weather permitting).

NOTE: Excludes National Park Entry Fee. The fee is $25 per adult & $13 per child and is valid for 3 consecutive days. Child age is 5-15 years. This is an additional compulsory government charge and is subject to change without notice. When booking multiple day tours within three consecutive days you only need to pay the fee once. You must carry your entry ticket with you every time you enter the National Parks or you will be required to purchase another.

Uluṟu Sunrise & Kata Tjuṯa ( tour code Y14 ) | Depart Daily, 90 minutes prior to sunrise from Ayers Rock Resort | Returns 10.30am (Oct-Mar) and 11.00am (Apr-Sep) approximately.

The early rise is well worth it as you experience the two major landmarks in Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park. Start with an amazing sunrise at Talinguru Nyakunytaku, the Uluru (Ayers Rock) sunrise viewing area. Afterwards, on the 45 kms drive to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) your Driver Guide will provide you with an historical overview of the National Park. The walk through the sheer walls of Walpa Gorge won’t disappoint as you’re led into a world of rare plant species and lush evergreen scrubs.

  • Rise early and travel into Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park
  • Enjoy a warming tea, coffee or hot chocolate as the dawn creeps across the desert plain and lights up Uluru
  • Return to the coach for the scenic drive to the 36 domes of conglomerate rock that forms Kata Tjuta
  • Enjoy a panoramic view of the southern side of Kata Tjuta from the Dune Viewing platform. Uluru can also be easily seen on the distant horizon from this lookout
  • Your Driver Guide will provide insight into the history and geology of this ancient land
  • On arrival at Kata Tjuta, spend time exploring Walpa Gorge, following the path between two of the tallest domes to a lush oasis in the desert

An unforgettable evening eating beautifully prepared food under the sparkling outback sky. The journey begins on a lone sand dune. A meandering path takes participants to an uninterrupted, 360 degree view of this vast landscape. In front is the fabled Uluru; behind are the domes of Kata Tjuta and possibly the most spectacular sunset you have ever seen. Here enjoy sparkling wine and a selection of delectable canapés. As the sun sets in a blaze of reds and oranges and into the starlit night, feast on a gourmet barbecue buffet of authentic Australian delicacies including barramundi, kangaroo, emu, crocodile, bush salads and classic desserts, complemented by some of Australia's finest wines. Attention then turns to some of the world's best stargazing as the resident astronomer takes diners on an unforgettable tour of the spectacular southern night sky. As dinner winds down, select from a choice of tea, coffee or port. In winter, guests gather around a campfire to savour a special treat of hot mulled wine.

The critically acclaimed Field of Light Uluru by the internationally celebrated artist Bruce Munro has now been extended until 31 December 2020.

The exhibition, aptly named Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku or ‘looking at lots of beautiful lights’ in local Pitjantjatjara is Munro’s largest work to date.Overwhelming in size, covering more than seven football fields, it invites immersion in its fantasy garden of 50,000 spindles of light, the stems breathing and swaying through a sympathetic desert spectrum of ochre, deep violet, blue and gentle white.
