A half day afternoon tour of the highlights of Melbourne that includes a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens, tour through the relatively new Docklands waterfront development and make our way over the Bolte Bridge to travel along the bayside suburbs of Port Melbourne, St Kilda, Elwood and Brighton. A refreshment stop in trendy Acland Street in St Kilda and a photo stop at Brighton Beach bathing boxes are a real highlight!

01. Great Ocean Road Adventure Tour ( tour code 396 ) | Depart Daily at 8:00am or early for Hotel pick up | Returns: 7:30pm (approx)  

An amazing coastline to travel and stunningly breathtaking, the Great Ocean Road is a photographer's delight and it consistently features in the Top 10 of world's greatest scenic coastal drives. A day tour that will impress! Get ready for an exciting day of visual wonderment and one of the best coastal drives you will ever experience!

 

02. Penguin Parade ( tour code 384 ) | Depart Daily at 1.15pm | Hotel pick up upon request | Returns: 9.00pm - 11.30pm (dependant on season)

Phillip Island is a treasure trove of Australian wildlife; seals, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, birdlife and penguins! Visit Churchill Island where you can explore this working farm or simply enjoy ocean views from the cafe. At Koala Conservation Centre, look for koalas in their natural habitat and before sunset, we head to the Penguin Parade where you can wander through the "Penguin Experience" exhibit to learn more about them. Walk out to Summerland Beach and take your seat for the Penguin Parade. Every evening at dusk the Little Penguins come home from the sea at Phillip Island. Watch from an elevated boardwalk as they waddle cautiously from the beach to their burrows after a long day out at sea.

03. Sovereign Hill ( tour code 380 ) | Depart Mon, Tue, Thus & Sat at 8:15am or early for Hotel pick up | Returns: 5:30pm

Sovereign Hill in Ballarat is one of the best outdoor museums you can experience. With a colourful history relating to the discovery of gold in the region back in the 1850's, you too can capture the excitement! Travel the stage coach route of the 1850's along Western Highway to Ballarat, steeped in history with the discovery of gold. Tour through this gracious town with its exquisite gardens, noble statues and magnificent architecture. Pass by the Eureka Stockade, site of the 1854 miner's rebellion. Spend the rest of your day at Sovereign Hill where Ballarat's first 10 years after the discovery of gold in 1851 is re-created. Try your luck at gold panning in Red Gully Creek or head underground on the Red Hill mine tour. Don't forget to visit the Gold Museum too!

Melbourne - Macedon Ranges Region ( 1hr or 1.5hrs by train )

Check out Melbourne hotel (hotel check out time 10am). Store your luggage at Melbourne hotel and to bring overnight bag to farmstay.

Experience country life in Macedon Ranges region! To experience the true country escape, a farmstay just 1hours from Melbourne is the answer. Macedon Ranges are the centres for the farmstays and you will be amazed by the open space and the chance to see wildlife in its natural environment. Farm sizes vary from just a few acre hobby farms with a variety of animals to very large sheep farms. Typical farms in these areas are beef cattle, sheep, horses, emus, ostrich, alpaca, angora goats, vegetables, flowers, crops, vineyards and mixed farms.

Click here to view/look at the farms and select your preferences. Farmstay at Macedon Ranges region cover Kilmore, Joyce’s Creek, Romsey, North Drummond, Gisborne, Riddells Creek, Sidonia and Kyneton town.

Make your own way to Southern Cross Station and take on V-Line train (Bendigo Line) to Macedon Ranges areas. Train fare cost (myki card) around A$ 16.00 per adult per way, child fare cost around A$ 8.00 per way. The train tickets are at your own expense. The farm host will provide a complimentary transfer to and from the nearest station. Farmstay nearest train station with detail of train to be advise once booking has been confirmed. Return home with farm host families to begin farmstay and farm activities.

All farms can generally include the following standard activities: Farm tour, collect fresh eggs, feed animals, picking fresh fruit/vegetables for dinner, wildlife spotting such as kangaroos and star gazing.

Macedon Ranges Region - Melbourne ( 1hr or 1.5hrs by train )

Breakfast and farm activities with farm host family. Around 10am to 11am farm host will send you to the nearest train station, farewell to your farm host. 

Depart at local train station and then make the return journey back to Melbourne city. Upon arrival at Southern Cross Station, make you own way back to hotel for check in. Hotel check-in time 1400PM. Free at own leisure.

Make use of the free City Circle Tram to visit fun-filled family attractions like the Melbourne Sealife Aquarium, the Eureka Skydeck, or enjoy the city's skyline from the comfort of a river cruise along the Yarra River.

Regrettably this is departure day. Heading home after so much fun is tough but you can certainly keep coming back again and again.

Take your beach towel (or yacht) to bayside St Kilda, Port Melbourne and South Melbourne, and go west for more fabulous food and beaches.
