Escape to the Top End and discover a paradise. View Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie and Ubirr, cruise Yellow Water Billabong and East Alligator River in search of crocs then go ashore in Arnhem Land with special permission of the local people.

Darwin - Kakadu

As this Short Break departs 6.15am at Darwin Transit Centre, 69 Mitchell St, Darwin. Hotels pick-up is available on request.

Depart Darwin and travel through pristine wetland regions to Kakadu National Park, a 20,000 square kilometre suite of landscapes varying from red-hued escarpments that shelter historic Aboriginal rock art dating back thousands of years to floodplains teeming with wildlife.

Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre, then join your local guide on an award-winning cruise to experience the dramatic scenery of the Yellow Water Billabong. Keep an eye out for saltwater crocodiles, a diverse array of smaller wildlife, and the colourful range of birdlife for which this region is renowned.

Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel - The indigenous owned luxury accommodation is uniquely shaped to represent Kakadu's most famous inhabitant, the saltwater crocodile. Relax in the recently refurbished rooms, unwind in your private courtyard, by the shaded outdoor pool or take in the landscaped interior garden view from the balcony.

Kakadu - Darwin

This morning, head off with your Driver Guide to explore the World Heritage area of Ubirr, where you’ll explore extensive Aboriginal rock art galleries believed to be 20,000 years old, and considered among the best in the world. Climb to the lookout for stunning views over the floodplains, woodlands and dark ribbons of rainforest of the surrounding Nadab wetlands.

Then take the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise along the East Alligator River, where an Aboriginal guide will provide insights into their culture, including local mythology, the river’s abundant food chain, as well as bush survival skills. With special permission of the local people, you are able to go ashore in Arnhem Land.

Visit Bowali Visitor Centre, which houses a wealth of information on the Park's ecology and Aboriginal culture.

Finally, you’ll return to Darwin, where your Short Break concludes at 7.30pm.

NOTE: In April & November to March if weather conditions preclude access to East Alligator region, alternative touring will be arranged on day 2 as follow:-

This morning join your Driver Guide to explore a Rock Art Site, where you'll be shown through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries, believed to be 20,000 years old.

A visit to the Bowali Visitor Centre is next, then it's off to Corroboree Park Tavern for lunch. After lunch, we make our way to Adelaide River to join the Jumping Crocodile Cruise. Cruise the river and thrill as these awesome creatures launch themselves out of the water.

After the Cruise, we visit Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre for view over the Marrakai Plains and a stop at Fogg Dam Nature Reserve before your return to Darwin.
