Arrive Melbourne airport. Self arrangement to hotel or may add in additional service (optional) for airport transfer.

Most visitors base themselves in the city centre, the buzzing commercial heart of Melbourne that's also home to museums, theatres, restaurants, bars and shops. Melbourne's grid layout makes it an easy city to navigate, with most attractions within walking distance. Transport options included train, tram, bus or bike.

The iconic Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market in the southern hemisphere. The city’s iconic and authentic marketplace has been operating since 1878, and is a much loved part of Melbourne. During the summer and winter months, the market transforms into The Night Market, a showcase of global street food, live music and shopping.

NOTE: Avalon Airport transfer (optional) by Skybus - Drop off/pick up point will be at Southern Cross Station, Melbourne. There is no direct transfer to/from CBD hotels. Passengers to make own way to/from hotel to Southern Cross Station.

Melbourne - Dandenong Ranges - Phillip Island - Melbourne

Penguins 'N' Puff with boxed Lunch ( tour code 322PL ) | Departs daily at 8.10am or early for Hotel pick up | Returns: 9.00pm-11.30pm (dependant on season)

Delight in an historic steam train ride on Puffing Billy through the beautiful rainforest of the Dandenong Ranges in the morning. Highlights include our complimentary Aussie Bush Billy Tea in Sherbrooke Forest where there is also opportunity to hand feed local birdlife and a visit to the quaint mountain village of Sassafras. Return to Federation Square to join our afternoon/evening tour to Phillip Island with your boxed lunch provided for you. Make a stop at Churchill Island and visit the Koala Conservation Centre before making our way to the Penguin Parade to witness these little flightless birds make their way home from the ocean as the sun sets.

Morning

  • Tour departs Federation Square at 8.10am
  • Travel through the Dandenong Ranges National Park with its towering mountain ash forest, traditional gardens and home to the lyrebird
  • Visit Sherbrooke Forest - heart of the Dandenongs; tall eucalypts, kookaburras and bellbirds
  • See colourful Crimson Rosellas and King Parrots (opportunity to hand feed) at Grant's Picnic Ground

  • Phillip Island Nature Park - a natural home for koalas, seals, shearwaters and Little Penguins
  • Koala Conservation Centre - look for koalas in their natural habitat from tree top boardwalks
  • The Nobbies - a rugged rocky outcrop with an excellent boardwalk where you may spot Little Penguins' homes (shoulder/summer months)
  • Witness the Penguin Parade on floodlit Summerland Beach from the general viewing area
  • See penguin rookeries from an elevated boardwalkInspect the Visitors Centre - an opportunity to learn about the life of the Little Penguin
  • A dinner stop will be made before or after the Penguin Parade (dependent on season and at own expense)

NOTE: Please bring warm, waterproof clothing as nights can be cold on the island in any season. The Penguin Parade is a natural phenomenon taking place in the open outdoors.
