#2 Brewtown Newtown

Aside from serving up really photogenic and equally delicious brunches, it is also reputedly the pioneer of the cronut (donut-shaped croissant hybrids) movement in Sydney. If you enjoy coffee, you might want to try their specialty coffee by Brewtown Coffee Roasters. They roast them in small batches everyday and you’ll only be able to find them in their cafe or a few of their cafe partners. More info here.

#3 Aqua S 

Order their signature seasalt flavour with the bright blue soft serve! The dreamiest, Instagram-worthy gelato is like a work of art. Fun, innovation and exquisiteness are the key elements for Aqua S, thus apart from their signature flavor, there are two other varieties that change fortnightly. #4 Cow and The Moon

This may be a boutique, family-run gelato and coffee bar but their almond affogato flavour won the world’s best gelato title at the 2014 Gelato World Tour in Italy! The passionate crew at Cow and the Moon are all about quality artisan gelato with exceptional, creative, balanced flavours, as well as ethically sourced coffee. More info here.

#5 Devon Cafe

Devon Cafe serves up quirky touches to classic cafe dishes, alongside a range of delicious seasonal house-made ‘cronnies’ or cronuts, doughnuts and soft serves. The original Devon Café, located in the heart of Surry Hills, serves brunch favourites with a quirky twist while the outlet in Barangaroo serves a more fine dining approach and the North Sydney outlet continues to combine fine dining with casual café food. #6 Black Star Pastry 

Be sure to try the strawberry watermelon cake with fresh slices of watermelon sandwiched between layers of rose-flavoured fresh cream. Black Star Pastry now boasts four bakeries in NSW, shifting 20,000 slices of its Strawberry Watermelon Cake a week. Indulge in flavours like poached figs in marsala salted caramel with white chocolate chips (their best seller) and apple pie.
