Guadalajara is the second largest city in the country and it is ranked as the eighth best city to visit in Mexico and South America. Known as the land of tequila and mariachi, it is rich in history and traditions; it is also known as the Mexican Silicon Valley. You will find glimpses of its dazzling architecture in Hospicio Cabanas, a hospital built in century XIX, or in its cathedral. Guadalajara has managed to make tradition and modernity coexist in a single space because it preserves centenary culture and tradition such as charrería, folkloric dance, jarabe tapatío and tequila, but it is also the main producer of technology and software

In this city Guadalajara also known as origin of Charros, you will visit the area of the lovely public square known as Plaza de Armas

The Guadalajara Cathedral- is the city’s most conspicuous landmark with distinctive neo-Gothic towers built after an earthquake toppled the originals in 1818. Begun in 1561 and consecrated in 1618, the building is almost as old as the city itself.

Degollado Theater (Teatro Degollado)- looms in stony, neoclassical glory. Corinthian columns form a massive portico topped with a marble relief of Apollo and the nine muses. The length of the building’s rear wall is adorned with a stylish sculptural depiction of Guadalajara’s history; a fountain runs along the base.

Hospicio Cabanas (Instituto Cultural de Cabanas)- In the downtown historic core, the World Heritage-listed Instituto Cultural Cabanas (formerly called Hospicio Cabanas) is a splendid Neoclassical former hospital and orphanage built at the beginning of the 19th century. Today, the complex is home to the Cabanas Cultural Institute and the Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Besides the building's graceful architecture, based on similar designs in Paris and Madrid, the main highlight here is the collection of 57 magnificent frescoes painted by Jose Clemente Orozco, which are widely considered to be among his finest works.

Rotonda de los hombres ilustresis one of the city's most distinctive monuments, in a beautiful park-like setting. Constructed in 1952 in honor of the state's best-known historical figures - including famed artist José Clemente Orozco, whose work can be seen in murals across the city - this large circular stone monument features 17 tall columns and houses the remains of 98 important individuals.

After Guadalajara, you will have a chance to visit a small town of Tlaquepaque a charming provincial village 4 miles (7 km) southeast of Guadalajara– the center of Mexican arts where you will discover and enjoy the fascinating work of modern artists, traditional Indian art, galleries and restaurants.

En route, you will not miss Tequila & Los Guachimontones. You will hear the story of this legendary beverage, the Tequila, and find out about field cultivation of the blue agave.

You will walk the cozy little streets of the Tequila Town, the name of which decided the fate of these lands. The volcano of Tequila extends its arms to embrace this colorful "Magical Town". It is a land of blue-gold that rises from the foot of the Río Grande Canyon and the landscape of agave crops that was declared a World heritage Site by UNESCO in 2006. Its old ranches and distilleries produce the famous and emblematic distilled beverage of Tequila, which is much more than just a spirit, it is an entire culture full of history from its tequila ranche, and the amazing blueish agave landscapes that turn red when the sunset shines over the golden barrels. In the evenings, an incomparable sweet aroma will conquer your senses, the mild fragrance of the agave that escapes from the furnaces spreading through the town and trapping everyone with its magic until all their senses succumb.

Still, for those travelers who love the west coast of Mexico but still yearn to explore ancient sites, both the states of Nayarit and Jalisco have much to offer. One of the finest examples is just outside the modest little town of Teuchitlan, Jalisco, 40km due West of Guadalajara which is 1 hour away from Tequila Town. There lies one of the most impressive archeological sites in all of western Mexico, Los Guachimontones. Los Guachimontones (alternatively Huachimontones) is a pre-Hispanic archaeological site built by a complex society that existed from as early as 300 BC until 900 AD.

Later on, you will visit the archeological site of the Los Guachimontones: The word comes from Nahuatl and means enclosed, referring to those found in the concentric circles. In the center of the main square stands a pyramid equipped with four steps that are oriented toward the cardinal points. 'One of the most impressive archeological sites in all of western Mexico'.

Puerto Vallarta - FREE DAY

Breakfast, lunch & dinner FULL BOARD meals by hotel, FREE and EASY, own leisure time to explore the city and beautiful bay of Puerto Vallarta.

As soon as you touch down in Puerto Vallarta, in Mexico's Jalisco state on the Pacific Coast, you'll find yourself accosted by offers of ‘complimentary’ tequila shots and greeters trying to sell you timeshares. But Puerto Vallarta was once a very different destination.

Puerto Vallarta’s heart beats in every rooftop, garden and street of this beautiful city that once was a mining town in the 19th Century called ‘Las Penas’. It emerged because miner people from the mountains need a port in the Bay of Banderas, where they could load and unload various products from their mining, agricultural, fishing and forestry activities.

Puerto Vallarta is one of the safest cities in Mexico, so don't be afraid to stroll around its Downtown core, the El Malecon Boardwalk or alongside Playa Los Muertos – ‘Beach of the Dead’
